Copper, brass,
Clock works

This etched copper looks great layered onto a plain, oxidized piece of copper (find our Oxidizing Solution here). This piece was destined to be a link on a bracelet.

Rose Clock
Nickel Silver, Prismacolor Pencils, Clock Movement, Brass Hands

The 2 clocks above were fast and easy to make. I sanded the metal with 400 grit Polishing Papers, stamped the image with StazOn Ink and then etched the metal for 2 hours (in our aerated Etching Tank). When it was finished I easily bent the clock in our 18" Bending Brake, drilled (with a drill press) the hole for the clock and installed the Movement. The finished clocks are 4" X 4"

Learn to etch from our Metal Etching How-To and Idea Book.

The following 5 clocks were made by my students in a 2-day class at Art & Soul 2005. The clocks are 6" wide and only one of the students had any metalsmithing experience! They all turned out fantastic!  Click images for a larger view.
